Discovery projects represent an interesting opportunity to fund cutting-edge technological ideas that are at the intersection of basic research and applied research and are hampered by a lack of feasibility studies. Due to their unusual nature, these projects cannot be funded by the SNF or through CTI regular programs. In order to be funded, technological ideas must satisfy critera imposed by the CTI.

Feasibility studies represent a more flexible framework for companies that are involved in the project. The cash and in-kind contributions can be handled more flexibly, on a case by case basis. This program has limits on the federal contribution and the duration of the project.
